Argentina and Iran’s “Truth Commission” Over AMIA is a Sham, Ros-Lehtinen Says

                             

Washington, DC – Today Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, commented on the announcement that the government of Argentina is working with the Iranian regime to form a “truth commission” to investigate the attack on the Argentine Jewish Mutual Association (AMIA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“The announcement that the government of Argentina and the Iranian regime have formed a ‘truth commission’ surrounding the AMIA bombing is an insult and disgrace to the victims and families of this horrific terrorist attack. Iran, a designated State Sponsor of Terrorism, has been fully aware of the perpetrators behind this attack and continues to provide safe haven to these murderers.

Iran cannot be trusted to faithfully lead this ‘commission’ and bring the perpetrators responsible for killing so many innocent lives to justice when it has harbored and protected these fugitives for decades. If the Iranian regime was serious about prosecuting the cowards who carried out this vicious attack, they would immediately hand over the perpetrators to Interpol so that the Special Prosecutor for AMIA in Argentina can hold them accountable and bring the culprits to justice.  

It is appalling that the government of Argentina wishes to work with the very regime that was behind the attack. Once again, the Kirchner government continues to undermine U.S. interests by allowing the Iranian regime to dictate the resolution of this matter, and by giving Iran a larger footprint in the Western Hemisphere.”

Washington, DC - Hoy congresista Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Presidente de Oriente Medio y Norte de África Subcomité, comentó sobre el anuncio de que el gobierno de Argentina está trabajando con el régimen iraní para formar una "comisión de la verdad" para investigar el ataque contra la Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Declaración de Ros-Lehtinen:

"El anuncio de que el gobierno de Argentina y el régimen iraní han formado una" comisión de la verdad "que rodea al atentado a la AMIA es un insulto y una vergüenza para las víctimas y las familias de este ataque terrorista horrible. Irán, un estado patrocinador del terrorismo designados, es plenamente consciente de los responsables detrás de este ataque y sigue proporcionando refugio a estos asesinos.

Irán no se puede confiar para llevar fielmente esta "comisión" y llevar a los autores responsables del asesinato de tantas vidas inocentes a la justicia cuando se ha abrigado y protegido estos fugitivos durante décadas. Si el régimen iraní es serio acerca de la persecución de los cobardes que llevaron a cabo este ataque vicioso, que de inmediato entregaría a los responsables ante la Interpol para que la Fiscalía Especial para la AMIA en Argentina puede hacerlos responsables y llevar a los culpables ante la justicia.

Es lamentable que el Gobierno de la República Argentina desea trabajar con el mismo régimen que estaba detrás del ataque. Una vez más, el gobierno de Kirchner sigue minando los intereses de Estados Unidos al permitir que el régimen iraní para dictar la resolución de este asunto, y al darle a Irán una huella más grande en el hemisferio occidental ".
